.......Wimbledon, well not physically but my dial is locked in on ESPN.
While there has been plenty to talk about this summer, the pace has slowed down considerably. Maybe it is all of the holidays we celebrate, the pool, vacations. I'll take it!!
Work has definitely been keeping me busy but thank goodness for the pool. How many pictures have you received of the temperature reading in someone's car?
All of my chicks are growing up and hopefully there is only one rooster yet it is not the bird we suspected. We typically name our roosters Roosevelt, at least until we find them new homes. Roosevelt has started to find his voice, an adolescent cockadoodledoo that sounds like they have a sore throat but this morning Duncan and I realized something. That cockadoodledoo was not coming from Roosevelt after all but our lovely, petite Sylvia! My sister in law just told me that we are failing at gender assignment. Needless to say, Sylvia is now Sylvester and lets see if Roosevelt finds his voice or is just an unattractive chick!
I have been working on jewelry a good bit this summer which has been a lot of fun. Here are some new pieces.
I will be adding these to my website but I also need to add some things to Scout For The Home so maybe these will go there.
This is an unusual 4th of July so I hope you all are doing something fun. I am staying close by and cooking out with friends.
So long for now!

Yesterday I was @.....
.......the Modern Atlanta Home Tour.
What a great time I had on this tour. I have never embraced modern or contemporary architecture, I have always associated modern architecture with cold, sparse, uncomfortable, hard lines. I have learned over the past few years that there is so much more to this architectural style .
The first home we visited was Frances Zook's home. Zook is the business partner of Alan Clark, and they are Clark and Zook Architects. Alan Clark is a friend and past co-worker of mine and I love being a cheer leader for him, and now Frances.
The home is nestled in it's surroundings, pretty far back off the street, discreet and unassuming.

Once you walk up the drive you can enter the house in a couple of ways, both very welcoming. Alan Clark was a fabulous tour guide and let us know the changes that had been made. There were also some pictures of the before so you could actually see the changes that had been made.
I am sorry I don't have any interior shots, I just felt too invasive taking pictures of people's private spaces......until the end.
Frances's home had some traditional furniture pieces mixed in with the more contemporary details of the house which gave it a very comfortable balance. The walls in the living room were covered in wood in a pattern like that of a Mondrian painting yet painted white. The old kitchen made a comfortable dining area and overlooked the paneled living area. One bathroom had a beautiful Hermes orange paint color and the updated kitchen would make anyone want to prepare a meal from scratch.
If you walked out on to the patio off the kitchen and sitting area you were led back around to the front by plantings and a path with raised gardens by the garage.
The interior and exterior were very peaceful. I hope I did the Zook residence justice, I loved it.
We moved on to 9th street near Piedmont Park. This house was immaculate with a beautiful art collection, amazing fixtures and materials but I was afraid to touch anything. White! I did take 2 pictures, one of the roof top garden and one descending the staircase. I was still a little nervous to snap away.
Our last stop was awesome. Located in the Lower Fourth Ward on East Street, this house had so much personality and the owners were so interactive with the crowd that I felt no guilt taking photos. Here are my photos upon the entry walk.
Awesome abstract bench.
Collection after collection from masks to religious folk art. I could have spent hours looking at every piece and they covered the walls, even in the laundry room!!!
Off the kitchen was a lap pool and a beautiful water feature with Koi. Latin music poured outside the open doors.
We went upstairs to the bedrooms and the master had a beautiful headboard.
Next, up to the studio of the owner-architect, fabulous bookshelves full of beautiful books.
The Loggia.
The floor was covered in square panels made from recycled tires, there was a sample out so you could see what it looked like underneath.
One last look at the pool and it was time to go.
I hope everyone had a great weekend and a great Monday!!!

Today I am @.......
..........back at San Marco USA.
As if the press received on Jetson Green wasn't enough, now there is the Modern Atlanta Home Tour featuring two homes where San Marco USA products were applied throughout.
The home I featured on my post yesterday is on tour and also a home in Athens, GA.
San Marco USA BioDomus paint was applied on the walls throughout this Athens home.
Alan Clark's (Clark and Zook Architects) business partner, Frances Zook will have her home on the tour, I can't wait to see it in person.

Today I was @......
.....San Marco USA.
It was an exciting day for me and San Marco. We were featured in a great article on Jetson Green. Lisa Vail, a good friend of everyone at San Marco, used our mineral based paints throughout the interior of her home and our stucco on the exterior.
The home turned out beautiful so take a peak at the article, "Earthcraft Platinum Modern in Georgia".
In addition, you don't want to miss the Grant Park Tour of homes in association with the Atlanta, GA branch of the US Green Building Council where the work of some friends of mine will be on view. Chris and Jodi Laumer-Giddens designed the home at 947 Cherokee Drive, 30305. Be sure to visit one of the only only homes in Atlanta certified under the latest Version of the ENERGY STAR New Homes Program. Click on the link to learn more and while the tour is free, they do ask you to register.

Thursday the 24th I was @.....
.......San Marco USA for our Networking Happy Hour.
The last newtworking happy hour was at San Marco USA on May 24th and was a lot of fun. Not only is their new studio space a great backdrop for their historically rooted paints and plasters but Chris Lewis and Mike Aiken guarantee an educational and interesting visit. Their space, located at 554 North Avenue, is primarily a workshop where custom paints, plasters, varnishes, lime washes and other finishes are created. In addition, it is a place where artisans can come and actually apply San Marco products in order to learn how to properly use them. It doubles as a retail facility for application tools like trowels and paint brushes. Interior Designers, like Beth Webb, Jackye Lanham and Nancy Duffey as well as Architects, Keith Summerour, Ryan Duffey, Peter block and Stan Dixon to name a few, have really embraced San Marco USA products.
I should add that the studio is also a reference library. Chris has an archive of photos of historical examples of these finishes as applied hundreds of years ago. Chris's photos include his well documented visits to Pompeii, Ercolano, and so many more places in Italy, where he lived for many years.
There are so many different products and so many ways they can be used. They are aesthetically pleasing and healthy for you and your environment and virtually no maintenance when applied properly.
Keep them in mind for your next project and visit their blog at www.sanmarcousa.wordpress.com.

Today I am @.....
.....my wits end!!!!!
Most of my readers are probably experiencing cabin fever like I am. Due to this rain my chickens are cooped up, my dog is being forced to stay calm and my husband is asleep on the opposite end of the sofa from me. I know we need the rain but this family doesn't do well indoors all day. This is the perfect Pinterest day!!!!
I have certainly been pinning and have come across some really great articles I can use for my many jobs and clients so I would say this has been mostly productive!
I have found a lot of great articles to post for Bellwether Landscape Architects tomorrow on their Facebook page. Last week we changed their profile images and posted some articles of interest and all of a sudden they have a ton of new activity and followers. It is pretty amazing what social media can do and who it can reach.
One thing that has captured my interest today is what people collect; glass bottles, old wooden cutting boards, masks, dishes, ceramic vessels. You wonder what interests people about their certain collections. Did they study these artifacts in college, are they attracted to the colors of certain things, are they collections where the pieces are actually in use?

Jennifer Bates Pottery would look great displayed in a collection like the one above.
I love old cutting boards, even if they are made to look old, I still love them.
Old glass bottles make for an interesting collection, these cool colors remind me of the ocean and the sky.
Hand mirrors and sculptures of heads, these look like they are carved in wood. It makes me wonder if this person is a wood worker and appreciates the craftsmanship of these pieces.
My all time favorite!!!! I, unfortunately, can't collect antlers and skulls because my German Shorthair heads straight for them.... maybe I should try a ceramic or papier mache.
These skulls made me think of a photograph I took in the home of Interior Designer, Carolyn Malone. She has these mounted antlers displayed beautifully.
Small Straw Brooms
Small Statuary
White serving pieces and dishes.
I collect crosses and rosaries because I love the differences in their design all over the world. Here are a few in my collection.
A cross I bought in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
A cross from Italy,
France,
rosaries from Ecuador, Guatemala and France.
I would love for you to share your collections with me. Send me some pictures!!!
A quick congrats to Clark and Zook Architects for their recent award. Their project at 143 Vidal Boulevard has been honored by the City of Decatur and has earned a Decatur Design Award for 2012.
I hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend and that Monday is the start of a great week!

Today I am @.......
.....San Marco USA.
I am not there yet but will be later this morning, wanted to throw out a quick reminder first. Don't forget that tomorrow night is Renaissance Tile and Bath Event launching their new product. See below for details.....
I will be there and hope to see you there as well!!
I discovered a new magazine this weekend, "Whole Living", www.wholeliving.com, wouldn't you know it is a Martha Stewart publication. But, it doesn't feel like Martha. Anyhow I read it cover to cover and it had a lot of really great info. I am sharing a few things below.
This is an article about Atlanta and features some interesting places I haven't been. One thing I was unaware of is a bicycle tasting tour. Who is interested?
There was also some interesting info about how to choose your Olive Oil. This tidbit is written by Tom Mueller, author of a book about the olive oil industry called "Extra Virginity: the sublime and scandalous world of olive oil". I downloaded a sample of this a while back and remember enjoying it but never actually read the whole book. I am adding it to my summer reading list. Mueller's blog info is in the article also in case you want to learn more.
Here are a few pics from my weekend with our niece and nephew.
Cutest boy ever, Charlie
Evie and Shorty played lots of ball!
Evie got to pet Splash, the chicken. Splash is a patient bird but we compensate her well!
I have a few really exciting blogs coming up about a few people that most of you know so stay tuned!!!!
